The island has well-maintained roads, but some areas may be narrower or winding, especially in rural regions. Speed limits are generally 40 km/h in towns and villages and 80 - 110 km/h on highways, unless otherwise indicated. Road signs are in English, and driving is relatively easy for both locals and tourists. You can use your valid foreign driver’s license for up to four weeks, and it's important to always wear seatbelts and follow local traffic laws.

If you're visiting Mauritius, you can drive with a valid foreign or international driving license until it expires. The license should be in English or French; if not, it’s recommended to carry an official translation. For your convenience, we require full payment when you collect your rental vehicle. Once you’ve taken the car, all rental fees must be settled in full, ensuring a smooth and efficient process for your trip.

We accept payments in cash or via bank transfer for your convenience. No deposit is required upfront, and the full rental amount is payable upon vehicle collection. Please note that cancellations made within 24 hours of the rental start date may incur a cancellation fee. We pride ourselves on having no hidden fees, ensuring a transparent and straightforward payment process.

All vehicles rented through SSM Car Rental come with comprehensive insurance coverage, ensuring protection for both the driver and the vehicle. This includes coverage for third-party liability, personal injury, and damage to the rental vehicle. However, in the event of an accident, an excess fee may apply depending on the nature of the damage. It's important to follow the local traffic laws and report any accidents immediately to ensure smooth processing of any claims. Additional insurance options may be available upon request.

All our vehicles come with comprehensive insurance for your peace of mind. For breakdowns, we provide 24-hour roadside assistance anywhere in Mauritius. Simply call our support team, and we’ll arrange for help or a replacement vehicle to get you back on the road as quickly as possible.

Cancellations made at least 24 hours before your scheduled rental start time are fully refundable. However, if you cancel within 24 hours of your rental period, a cancellation fee may apply. To cancel your booking, simply contact our support team with your reservation details, and we will guide you through the process.
